Module 5: Distributed File Systems
University of Bern
Distributed systems often rely on synchronized access to the same information in order to properly perform their tasks. Therefore, distributed file systems have been created to ensure the consistency and transparency of distributed information. In this module, the students learn about the basic concepts of distributed file systems and service architectures. The comparison of NFS and CODA illustrates 2 different approaches to distributed file systems. In addition, the students receive a short introduction on the basics of distributed systems. The students have to apply their knowledge, by configuring and testing NFS as well as CODA client and server.
